o Causes: Influenza is caused by


influenza virus attacking the
respiratory and other systems.

o Symptoms: High fever, headache


and eye strain, muscle aches, fatigue,
cough, sore throat and runny nose

Dengue fever

o Causes: Dengue fever is caused


by viral infection. It is transmitted
by the bite of the infected Aedes
mosquito.

o Symptoms: Continuous high


temperature for 2 to 7 days,
headache, queasy feeling, and
red spots on the skin such as
on the body, arms and legs

Treatment:

- If you have high temperature,


wipe your body with wet cloth.
Seek medical advice.

- Drink a lot of water and take plenty of rest.

Prevention:

- Destroy mosquito breeding grounds.

- Use mosquito repellants.

Tinea versicolor

o Causes: Tinea versicolor is caused


by a yeast living on the human skin.
It is often found on those who
sweat heavily, wear dirty clothes,
or share clothes with others.

o Symptoms: The infected people


have oval white spots. Itching may
occur at the patch when it sweats.

Treatment:

- Apply some antifungal cream to the patch.

- Seek medical advice if you do not feel better.

Prevention:

- Bathe with soap twice a day.

- Do not share clothes with others.

o Causes: Periodontal disease is


caused by bacteria in your mouth.

o Symptoms: Bleeding gums when


brushing teeth, red or swollen
gums, bad breath, loose teeth, etc.

Treatment:

- Scaling and root planning help scrape off tartar


and any rough spot on the teeth to prevent

- Visit the dentist to remove plaque or tartar.
