Generally speaking, people believe women are not good at math. However, there is no research that proves that this is true. Women have proven to be as talented as men in this area. As a result of stereotyped thinking, mathematically talented girls may be ignored by their parents and forced to study more "feminine" subjects. Research has proven that a child's success in math depends on self-confidence and commitment, not on gender, • Men and women in leadership positions are more alike than they are different. This is one of the main conclusions of a study by the University of Antwerp (Belgium) on the personality of women and men in positions of great responsibility. • Science clearly shows that there is no difference in general intelligence between men and women”, agrees the American expert Richard Haier, who warns about how to interpret the inequalities detected in specific capacities.“It does not mean that women cannot mentally rotate and there are many women who do it better than many men, but there are more men who can do it much better,” Haier details patiently. "You'd be surprised how many people don't understand this" • the height. On average, men are taller than women, but there are many women who are taller than many men.Curiously enough, Melissa Hines, from the University of Cambridge, also resorted to quantifying the inequalities between the sexes, in a recent congress on the subject, of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) in Heidelberg (Germany). • Mathematics and science careers in general are another topic of debate. “It is well known that there are more men than women in some scientific areas, it is true in physics, engineering and mathematics”, recalls Haier. “The reason is controversial. There is data to suggest that there are more men at the pinnacle of mathematical ability, of spatial representation. These are important skills for these specialties. It's not to say that women can't do it, and there are women who are just as good, but there seem to be fewer women." • In general, men are physically more aggressive than women. The difference is usually attributed to the presence of testosterone, as indicated by a study carried out by John Archer in 2006, although this same study indicates that the differences between the sexes are more subtle, since at three years of age girls are so aggressive that boys and in adolescence, when testosterone reappears, the aggressiveness of boys does not increase suddenly.Aggressiveness and empathy are inversely related: more empathy less aggressiveness and vice versa. Just as men score higher on things like physical activity, women are more empathic than men (Eisenberg et al., 1989)
