Cash v/s Cashless

Transactions
A SURVEY
INTRODUCTION
 A cash payment is bills or coins paid by the recipient of goods or services to the provider.
 Cashless payments are financial transactions that are not conducted with physical banknotes or coins,
but instead with digital information (usually an electronic representation of money).
 A cashless society might sound like something out of
science fiction, but it's on its way. Many present-day
financial practices and transactions already happen
without cash, and many financial institutions, service
companies, and even governments are proponents of
the shift.
 With the help of a survey, I have further researched if
people in India actually prefer cash or cashless
transactions
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

1. To find out the factors influencing choice of mode of payment.

2. To find out the challenges faced by India in the path to become a cashless country.
3. To examine the benefits of a cashless economy.
4. To understand how cashless economy will benefit India.
SPECIFICATIONS OF SAMPLE
 Since the topic is understanding cash and cashless transactions in the field of online
shopping – there is no specific target audience as such because everyone orders
products online. Although, there are certain age groups who are more comfortable
doing it, my audience for the survey were the people living in India who have used
both cash and cashless mode of payment.
 The 60+ age group might fear the scams and prefer Cash on Delivery whereas the 18-
30 would not mind ordering through cashless mode of payment as they are assured
that it is secure.
 With technology growing so much, eventually everyone will have to order online but
the mode of payment is what I am trying to understand through this research.
WHAT PEOPLE PREFER- PIE CHART
REPRESENTATION

More than half of the responses suggested that they preferred cashless payment as an option due to its convenience.
According to most people, it will be beneficiary for India to transform into a cashless economy
WHAT PEOPLE PREFER- PIE CHART
REPRESENTATION

Having said that it will be beneficiary for India to go Despite there being a higher security risk online incase of
cashless, people are dubious whether or not India will expensive transactions, people still prefer online mode due
turn into a cashless economy within the next 8 years. to its mere effortlessness.
OVERALL ANALYSIS OF THE STUDY

• By looking at all the responses, we can clearly observe that about more than half of the
population is inclined towards cashless and prefers it because of it being more convenient.
There is less chances of theft too as carrying cash is not necessary. As we know, more than
half of the platforms have Gpay now and it’s the most upcoming in cashless transactions-
right from auto rickshaws to hotels, everyone has a Gpay account.
CONCLUSION

 The survey conducted got around 100 responses and by the results and pie charts shown, people
prefer cashless transactions more. The conclusion is clear and it fulfils the purpose of my survey.
 It is also evident that India is well-equipped to adapt to the slow-paced shift towards the cashless
economy
 In my opinion, cashless transactions are better as they are convenient, almost effortless. One can
manage their money in a better way online. You also get rewards through them which is a great
plus point.
 However, one should take precaution while paying online as there is a security risk. Not everyone
can be trusted when paying online so due precautions to be taken is necessary.
