Aim & Objectives

 Aim
– To design a process plant which separates CO2 from CO2-N2 gas mixture
(combustion plant flue gas) using tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide (TBAB) and
waste heat
 Objectives
– To model the process plant using Aspen PLUS simulation
– To investigate relationship between separation efficiency and energy consumption
– To calculate cost reduction by using waste heat from coal combustion plant

Scope of Project

 Primary focus: Aspen PLUS simulation

– Inputs include flue gas (composition acquired from coal combustion plant),
water and TBAB
– Outputs include CO2–dilute N2 gas and compressed CO2 gas
 Lab work
– May be required to collect data for Aspen property analysis and process
condition tuning

 I will finalise and submit my risk assessment
 I will write a draft for section 1 and 2 for my project proposal
 I will start working on section 3 for my project proposal
