Vehicle Description
• Go karts can come in different shapes and (small) sizes. Some are made to look like smaller
versions of road-going cars, while others look like miniature race cars. Above you see a picture of
what an adult go kart looks like at Speed.
• The go kart is low to the ground and features small wheels/tires, a steering wheel, throttle and
brake pedal, seat, and a roll hoop for safety.
• Go karts tend to be substantially lighter and have a shorter wheelbase than your average car. This
means they can accelerate quickly and are much easier to drive. As a result, they’re also a lot more
fun to drive than most cars!
Introduction
The general definition of any kart, a vehicle without suspension and differential. it is a vehicle
specially designed for a flat track race. a large range of engine karts were on track since the mid of the 20th
century. The current automotive scenario encourages eco-friendly vehicles to attenuate the damage done by
the emissions. an efficient alternative for the engine is that the motor which as compared can give an
equivalent output power. This can be implemented within the karting field.
Motor replaces the engine and hence the kart gets dramatically changed in both design and
performance. The vehicle, hence runs only on electricity and is designed to satisfy the mandatory
requirements for karting. The design of the frame indicates that it is an open kart with a straight chassis. The
frame acts as a suspension in karts. It must also be rigid to not break under extreme load conditions. Hence,
flexibility should be compromised with stiffness. the first objective is to design a stable and safest vehicle for
the driver.
Material Used
The material AISI-1018 is employed in the frame design due to its
good weld ability relatively soft, strengthens and good
manufacturability. A good strength material is vital during a roll cage
because the roll cage has to absorb the maximum
amount of energy as possible to stop the roll cage material from
fracturing at the time of high impact. AISI- 1018 has chosen
for the chassis because it's structural properties that provide a low
weight to strength ratio.
Carbon C = 0.18
Manganese Mn =0.73%
Silicon Si = 0.18%
Sulphur S = 0.017%
Phosphorus P=0.020%

SAFETY
Roll cage feature were first implemented by keeping on mind the safety requirement.
The first primary safety standard focused on during design was maintaining the correct
clearance of the driver’s body rest to other rigid parts like engine compartment, firewall
structure. Once the essential requirements fulfilled the other safety design were
implemented. The chassis was designed to provide occupant extra space to control the
vehicle easily. The place of the fire extinguisher is designed in the easily accessible
point and also the earthen foam padding is provided over the pipes adjacent to driver.
Electrical System
Motor :- We are using BLDC motor which is 2.5kw 48v, run at 3500rpm because as our
calculation shows that the mechanical output torque that need to move vehicle is 67.36
N-m and the motor provide torque to the wheel is approx. 150.88 N-m so it fulfilling our
requirement and it also provide max torque at starting.
Controller:-
On the basis of motor we are choosing controller, we are using KELLY 7218 controller.
Voltage:- 48/60v
Rated current :- 65ampere Rated torque:- 9.2Nm
Max output torque:- 400% of rated value= 46Nm.
Battery:- Li-ion battery of 48v, 60AH, BMS of passive balancing without communication
of rating and specs are 13 series lithium-ion 40/80A continuous current has packing of
(FRP + metallic) and capacity of 2.40kwh.
Battery pack:
Max rated power-3kw
Maximum rpm -3600rpm
Maximum peak torque- 30NM
Maximum DC voltage- 48v
Battery pack:
48v 150 amp
7313 WH capacity
