• He was born on August 18, 1926 , to

Ernesto Alcala and Elpida Zarate in
Daraga, Albay . 

• He graduated with a degree of

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at
the UP in 1950.
SIOPAWMAN
His first comic strip was a parody of
superman entitled "Siopaoman" in the
Filipino comic book.
 In 1947, he created Kalabog en Bosyo, his
longest running comic strip, first
published in Pilipino Komiks.

 The two bungling detectives featured in

this work speak a blend of Tagalog and
English as they go through their hilarious
misadventures.
