THE FUTURE HYDROGEN ECONOMY
EX E C U TI V E
SU M M A RY
Project Bangladesh is part of a green hydrogen
development platform set up with the objective to
decarbonize key industries through marine based
infrastructure.

We will provide and fund the necessary

infrastructure to allow for the generation, storage,
transportation and delivery of green hydrogen to
offtakers at strategic locations in Bangladesh
PROBLEM • Maritime sector responsible for 2.5%
of all emissions

• Maritime emissions to increase by

250% by 2050

• The energy intensive nature of

maritime operations makes it very
difficult to decarbonise through
conventional means
SOLUTIO Provide the necessary infrastructure to
allow for the generation, storage,
N transportation and delivery of green
hydrogen to offtakers at ports and
industrial waterways

1. To introduce a small commercial scale fully integrated hydrogen
production, storage and dispensing solution at a strategic location

2. To include partner-provided renewable power production to

power the electrolyser

3. Work with offtakers to facilitate demand growth

4. Expand the project through installation of additional electrolyser

production and hydrogen handling facilities

Rapidly roll-out similar infrastructure facilities globally,

offering development, operation and maintenance services

• Matarbari Port is a deep sea port under-construction at Matarbari in Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox's Bazar District, Bangla

• The container terminal will be built on 18 hectares, and have an annual capacity of 600,000 to 1.1 million TEU. Later, th
container terminal will be expanded, up to 70 hectares, with a 1,850 metres (6,070 ft) berth, and have a 2.8 million TEU
capacity.

• Identified site for solar installation, electrolyser, storage and dispenser

• Green hydrogen produced here will be used within the port as well as being transported upriver to refueling stations to pr
vessels along the river with green hydrogen, as well as industrial users
M ATAR B ARI H2 HU B
• Proposal is for a 1GW floating wind array off-shore
making H2 which will be barged into port for
military use

• Permits will be required and an H2 off-taker

agreement from the government to use the H2

• Location 1 opens access to India and up the Ganges

• While Location 2 has access to Myanmar, Thailand,

Cambodia, and Malaysia

• 1GW of wind array would require 100 turbines in an

area of around 2km squared
