Insurance for Specific Body Parts Is for Those
Who Have Body Parts That are "Assets"
Insuring a specific body part seems like something celebrities do to get into the
news. But this type of policy makes  sense to the people who can afford to buy it.
The purpose of body part coverage is to supplement lost income if a body part is
damaged, injured, scarred, handicapped, or lost. For example, Holly Madison, a
former Playboy model, insured her breasts for $1 million. Her reason: They're her
assets. If something were to happen to them, she could be out of work for
months.
For that reason, they're well worth the $1 million policy, considering how much
money she could potentially lose. The same applies to any other body part
insurance policy
Body Part Insurance Isn't Only for Celebrities, but It
May Make More Sense for Celebrities
● Because body part insurance isn't offered by standard insurance companies and is highly personalized, it's not
accessible to the general public. But if you can afford it, there's no reason why you can't buy it, too!
● Specialty  insurance providers, like Lloyd’s of London, will insure body parts. Most policies are created from
scratch, specific to a person's needs. This personal attention, coupled with having to purchase
Business Owners Purchase Specialty Body Part Insurance Policies

● Business owners look to body part insurance policies to help keep the business open if their ability to do so is
compromised due to a damaged body part or function. A chef or wine expert who loses the ability to taste or smell
could easily lose their business and livelihood if those senses were compromised.
● Some insurance companies offer coverage for “death and dismemberment” resulting from an accident. While not
as glamorous as a policy on a movie star’s legs, this is a more affordable way for people to supplement income if
they lose a body part and can't work.
The Bottom Line

● If you're a business owner, you may want a body part insurance policy so your business doesn't shut down due to
an accident. Otherwise, body part insurance policies are unnecessary and too expensive for many people. You can
find an affordable health insurance policy within our trusted network.
● Maybe it's best to stick to reading about the next celebrity body part insurance policy, and leave the rest of your
insurance needs to your independent agent.
DAVID BECKHAM
● David Beckham is a professional football player from London. He was born on 2 May 1975. He used to play for the
“ENGLAND NATIONAL TEAM” and “MANCHESTER UNITED FC”. He had also founded the “David Beckham Football
Academy” in London as well as Los Angeles.
● He was one of the era’s most famous soccer players worldwide. At the height of his career, he was the most sought
out soccer player on the planet.
● Because of Beckham’s immense talent and results on the field, he was able to earn quite a bit of money from his
athletic career. That led him to take out a massive insurance policy on himself in case anything went awry.
● Beckham tells us he first came on the professional soccer scene with legendary English club Manchester United in 1995. He played for
the team’s training division by the age of 16 and had advanced to the roster by 1995.
● In 1997, the Professional Footballers’ Association tabbed him as their Young Player of the Year for 1997. By 1998, he’d received over
$13 million in endorsements from various high-profile sponsor companies.
● 1998 also saw Beckham star for England’s World Cup squad. As if that wasn’t enough, he’d win a Premier League championship, FA
Cup championship, and Champions League crown with United in 1999.
● In 2002, Beckham helped England make yet another world cup.United gave him a three-year deal worth $22 million, though it would
be short-lived. After a disagreement with the club’s manager, the organization dealt his rights to another massively successful
European club: Real Madrid
● After his time with Real Madrid, Beckham transitioned to the U.S. In 2007 he signed a five-year, $250 million deal with
the LA Galaxy. Beckham’s best days as a soccer player behind him and MLS is hardly thought of as an elite league in the
global soccer pecking order, but it made sense from a branding perspective.
● The move matched the star power of Beckham with the powerful U.S. media landscape. Beckham’s MLS career was
rather uneventful, as injuries prevented him from making a major impact. But it laid the groundwork for him to
eventually buy his own MLS franchise.
● To this day, Beckham remains one of the world’s most popular athletes. He has multiple endorsement deals with
countless companies. Forbes reported he has agreements with big name brands such as H&M, Adidas, Samsung, and
Sainsbury’s.
● He was so popular in the 90s and early 2000s that he even had a movie title named in his honor: the 2002 film Bend It
Like beckham (though Beckham did not appear in the movie). The movie’s title references Beckham’s freakish corner-
kicking ability.
Leg Insurance

● In 2006, David Beckham, then the world's most iconic soccer star, sought a little extra protection. The £100 million
(then around $195 million) deal — widely considered the largest personal insurance policy in sport history — was
so large it was rumored to have been split among several companies.
● He has a giant $195 million insurance deal on his legs, feet and toes. Not only are they protected from injury,
they're protected against disfigurement given the work he does as a model.
