COMPUTER STORAGE
Computer data storage, often called storage or memory, refers to computer components and recording media that retain digital data. Data storage is one of the core functions and fundamental components of computers. In contemporary usage, memory usually refers to semiconductor storage random-access memory, typically DRAM (DynamicRAM). Memory can refer to other forms of fast but temporary storage. Storage refers to storage devices and their media not directly accessible by the CPU, (secondary or tertiary storage) typically hard disk drives, optical disc drives, and other devices slower than RAM but more permanent.Historically, memory has been called main memory, real storage or internal memory while storage devices have been referred to as secondary storage, external memory or auxiliary/peripheral storage.
COMPUTER STORAGE
PRIMARY STORAGE
SECONDARY STORAGE
Primary Storage, Also Known As Main Storage Or Memory, Is The Main Area In A Computer In Which Data Is Stored For Quick Access By The Computer's Processor. On Today's Smaller Computers, Especially Personal Computers And Workstations, The Term Random Access Memory (Ram) - Or Just Memory Is Used Instead Of Primary Or Main Storage. The Cache Is A Smaller, Faster Memory Which Stores Copies Of The Data From The Most Frequently Used Main Memory Locations.

HARD DISK
Hard Disk Drives Were Introduced In 1956 As Data Storage For An IBM A Set Of Stacked "Disks. A Non-volatile A Set Rotation Speed Varying From 4500 To 7200 Rpm.
OFF-LINE STORAGE
Off-line Storage Term Used To Describe Any Storage That Is Removable And Cannot Be Accessed By The Computer Once Removed. A Good Example Of Off-line Storage Is A Floppy Disk. Off-line Storage Allows A User To Store Information That Will Not Be Affected By Computer Viruses Or Hardware Failure. Off-line Storage Could Be Considered Secondary Storage, We've Separated These Into Their Own Category Because This Media Can Be Easily Removed From The Computer And Stored Elsewhere.
CD ROM,CD/DVD RW
It Was Introduced In 1997. A Rewritable Optical Disc. Allows Repeated Recording On A Disc. CD-RW Discs Usually Hold 74 Minutes (650 MB) Of Data.
TAPE DRIVE
IN 1951 Remington Rand UNISERVO INTRODUCED 224 Kb,first Computer Tape Drive. A Device, Like A Tape Recorder. A Tape Drive Provides Sequential Access Storage.
