PHYSICAL ACTIVITY VS.

EXERCISE
It isn’t everyday that we have the luxury and time of getting proper
exercises, however, throughout the day, we do numerous physical
activities as soon as we wake up and before going to bed. Exercise
and Physical Activity are the most repeated words encountered in
this subject. Yet, not everyone can tell each other apart.
Physical Activity is any form of body movements that require energy. It does not
necessarily mean it entails doing exercises. These movements are what we
normally do, or what is always
part of our living routines, such as doing household chores, walking to and from
school, and
even simply by taking care of our family or playing with friends.
These exercises speed up the heart rate and breathing of an individual. Both of
which are important for many body functions. Aerobic exercises increase one’s
endurance
and give the heart and lungs a good workout. Doing such exercises will get
enough blood to the muscles for them to work efficiently. Moderate to intense
aerobic exercises are recommended to be done at least 150 minutes a week.
Examples are:

AEROBIC EXERCISES
 swimming
 - brisk walking
 - jogging
 - cycling
 - dancing
As an individual gets older, the body loses muscle mass, but strength training can
help bring it back. Daily tasks like carrying heavy grocery bags, shoveling, and
gardening, or just lifting heavy objects require you to have a regular strength
training. These kinds of exercises can be planned two to three times a week,
either at home or by going to the

gym. Examples of this exercise include:
 squats
 - push-ups
 - lunges –
 machine exercises that involve resistance from a weight
