What food is needed by the body?

Food contains nutrients. There are


six basic kinds of nutrients.
These nutrients give the body
energy. They also regulate the
processes inside the body. They also
provide fuel for the body to grow.
What food is needed by the body?

If you eat a variety of food


from each of the food groups,
your body will receive all the
nutrients and vitamins it needs
to function.
What are the basic classes of Nutrients?
 There are six basic kinds of
nutrients. These are PROTEINS,
CARBOHYDRATES, FATS,
VITAMINS, MINERALS.
 There is no food that has all these basic
nutrients. Foods that contain each of
the six basic kinds of nutrients should
be eaten to get a balance amount of
nutrients.

Many different types of food should
be eaten within each food group.

For example, to have enough vitamins


and minerals children should not be
limited to eating just one kind of fruit.
They must be encourage to eat many
kinds of fruits.
 Children should not just eat fried
chicken every day. They should
also eat fish, sinigang, pinakbet,
and other filipino meals. Eating a
variety of food helps ensure that
the body gets all the essential
nutrients for it to become and stay
healthy.
What is a Balaced Meal?
Growing children between 7 and 12
years old should eat a balance meal
following the food pyramid. It is
prepared by food experts to guide
parents and professionals to
understand the growth and
development of Filipino Children. The
food pyramid should be considered in
choosing the food to be eaten every
day.
What does a healthful
plate look like?
A healthful plate should consist
of the following:
 half of the plate should consist of
vegetables and fruits or glow foods.
 One quarter or ¼ of the plate should
include Go foods like rice bread, and
pasta.
 The other ¼ of the plate should be
composed of the food that will help
you grow, like meat and fish.
