CHRISTIANITY

Group 1
INTRODUCTION
Christianity is based on God, His Son
Jesus Christ, and the Bible, which is
the Word of God. A Christian is one
who believes the Bible and lives the
teachings of Jesus Christ.
What is Christianity?
Christianity is the most widely practiced religion in the
world, with more than 2 billion followers. The Christian
faith centers on beliefs regarding the birth, life, death and
resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Origins of
Christianity
⚫By 100 CE, the growth of Christianity was left to a new
generation of people who had never known Jesus and
who did not know Jewish laws.
⚫ Roman authorities fought the growth of Christianity.
⚫ Christians were often arrested and killed.
⚫ Most Christians practiced their religion in hiding, but
their numbers continued to grow and the religion spread.
Who is Jesus Christ ?
Jesus ( c. 4 BC – AD 30 / 33), also referred
to as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ, was
a first-century Jewish preacher and
religious leader. He is the central figure of
Christianity, the world's largest religion.
Most Christians believe he is the
incarnation of God the Son and the awaited
messiah (the Christ ), prophesied in the
Hebrew Bible .
How Christianity Began?
Christianity originated with the
ministry of Jesus, a Jewish
teacher and healer who
proclaimed the imminent
Kingdom of God and was
crucified c. AD 30–33 in
Jerusalem in the Roman province
of Judea.
How was Christianity Created ?

The books began as songs and stories

orally transmitted from generation to
generation before being written
down in a process that began
sometime around the start of the first
millennium BCE and continued for
over a thousand years.
The Bible was written and compiled by
many people, from a variety of disparate
cultures, most of whom are unknown.
What is the 1st Bible?
Codex Sinaiticus
• Bible #1 The oldest surviving full text of
the New Testament is the beautifully
written Codex Sinaiticus, which was “
discovered ” at the St Catherine monastery
at the base of Mt Sinai in Egypt in the
1840s and 1850s. Dating from circa 325-
360 CE, it is not known where it was
scribed – perhaps Rome or Egypt.
“Christian
Church”
• In ecclesiology, the Christian Church is what different Christian
denominations conceive of as being the true body of Christians or the
original institution established by Jesus.

• "Christian Church" has also been used in academia as a synonymการเรี ยนการสอน

for Christianity, despite the fact that it is composed of multiple

churches or denominations, many of which hold a doctrinal claim

of being the "one true church", to the exclusion of the others.

"The last supper"

The Last Supper is the final meal that,
in the Gospel accounts, Jesus shared
with his apostles in Jerusalem before his
crucifixion. The Last Supper is
commemorated by Christians especially
on Holy Thursday. The Last Supper
provides the scriptural basis for the
Eucharist, also known as "Holy
Communion" or "The Lord's Supper".
Latin: Pontius Pilatus; Greek: Πόντιος
Πιλᾶτος, Pontios Pilatos) was the fifth
governor of the Roman province of
Judaea, serving under Emperor Tiberius
from 26/27 to 36/37 AD. He is best known
for being the official who presided over
the trial of Jesus and ultimately ordered
his crucifixion. Pilate's importance in
modern Christianity is underscored by his
prominent place in both the Apostles' and
Nicene Creeds.

Jesus Crucifixion
The crucifixion and death of
Jesus occurred in 1st-century
Judea, most likely in AD 30
or AD 33. It is described in
the four canonical gospels,
referred to in the New
Testament epistles, attested
to by other ancient sources,
and considered an
established historical event.
