Aftermath

• Other territories slowly broke free from the Ottoman empire.


• Lebanon separated from Syria and became a republic in 1926
(despite remaining a mandate of France).
• Iraq was a British protectorate became monarchy in 1932.
• Has experienced holocaust, Jews or Israelites were able to return to
Israel and establish of Israel in 1948.

Aftermath

• Empire was defeated after the WWI.


• Nationalist movements took advantage of the weakening empire to
fight for their freedom.
• Nationalism in West Asia was focused in ending the empire and not
by being against with the European countries.
