What is alliteration ?
• Alliteration is the occurrence of the same letter or sound.
• Pitter parker picked a paper.
• Sally shell sold a shell on the seashore.
What is a simile ?
• A simile is when you say something is something using like and as.
• My blanket is as white as snow.
• My brother is lazy as a donkey.
• The snow is a white blanket.
• She is an early bird.
What is a metaphor ?
• A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied
to an action or object.
• She is the apple of my eye.
• Life is a highway.
• Here eyes were diamonds.
• He is a shining star.
What is personification?
• Personification is when you give a none living thing a human
character.
• The tree danced in the wind.
• The ball bounced with excitement.
• The stars winked in the night sky.
• The gray clouds cried drops of rain.
What is a hyperbole
• A hyperbole is a form of exaggeration.
• I was hungry I ate a horse.
• If I don’t get to the mall I will die.
• The train was so late I waited for a 1000 days.

• A group of lines forming the basic recurring metrical unit in a poem.

• A figure of speech in which apparently terms appear in conjunction.
