ITS ORIGIN
• The Prado Museum is
the most important
museum in Spain and
one of the most
important in the world.
• it is in Madrid and was
built by Carlos III.
• It was opened on 19
November 1819.
HISTORY
• King Carlos thus decided to
commission Juan de
Villanueva, the royal
architect, to design a
building destined to Sciences
and that could house the
Natural History Office.
• In 1868 the Museum became
a National Museum, following
the Glorious Revolution.
