HARVESTING
• 𝑃𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑧𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 = (𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑧𝑜𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑐 𝑐𝑜𝑒𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡) × 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠

Piezoelectric effect
• The electricity which is produced by an element when it undergoes a mechanical force
(stress/strain/push/pull).

Certain ceramics:
 Barium Titanate (𝐵𝑎𝑇𝑖𝑂3); first piezoelectric ceramic discovered.
 Lead Titanate (𝑃𝑏𝑇𝑖𝑂3)
 Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT); most commonly used ceramic with high efficiency.
