INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Fungi is one of the most common disease that can be acquired in
our surroundings. Fungi are everywhere. Sometimes, they are too
small to see with the naked eye. Fungi can live outdoors in soil and
on plants, indoors on surface and in the air, and on the people’s skin
and inside the body. There are millions of fungal species, but only a
few hundred of them can make people sick.
When it comes to appearance, mild fungal infection and
rash looks comparable to each other which are very
common.
Statement of the Problem
The main objective of the study is to determine the potential
of Rosemary (Salvia Rosmarinus) extract as an antifungal agent.

What are the properties of rosemary (Salvia

1 Rosmarinus) extract as an antifungal agent?
2 What concentration level of rosemary extract is the
most effective in inhibiting the growth of fungi?
3 What concentration of rosemary extract is effective
as antifungal agent? In terms of the following:
a. 100%
b. Between 2% and 26%
c. 1, ½ and ¼
Statement of Hypothesis
1. H0: Properties of Rosemary (Salvia Rosmarinus) extract are
insufficient to function as an antifungal agent.
Ha: Properties of Rosemary (Salvia Rosmarinus)
extract are sufficient to function as an antifungal agent
2. H0: The concentration of rosemary extract is
inadequate in suppressing fungal growth.
Ha: The precise concentration level of rosemary extract
inhibits fungal formation.
3. H0: Rosemary extract lacks the precise concentration
required to be effective as an antifungal agent.
Ha: Rosemary extract contains the precise concentration
required for antifungal activity.
Significance of the Study
This study will be undertaken to find out the uses of rosemary
(Salvia rosmarinus) extract and to measure its effectiveness
against fungi.
