Course Description:

This course deals with the teacher as a person and as a


professional within the context of national and global
teachers’ standards and educational philosophies.

It will include professional ethics, core values, and awareness


of professional rights, privileges and responsibilities as well as
the teachers’ role in the society as transformative agent of
change.

 Philosophy: combination of two Greek words philo and
sophos, meaning lover of wisdom.

 - was coined by Pythagoras, a renowned mathematician


and philosopher

 - a lover of wisdom in history may be involved with any


profession that requires intelligence, be it in carpentry,
business, politics, others

 Today, Philosophy: a collection of a person’s or a group’s
fundamental beliefs, conceptions, and attitudes.

 The philosophy of a teacher is significant because it


influences, among other things, how he or she represents
himself, his or her content, and how he or she educates
his or her students. Knowing what your own philosophy is
will help you figure out what kind of teacher you would
like to be.
