WHAT IS A
GOVERNMENT
A government is a system of order for a nation, state, or another
political unit. A government is responsible for creating and enforcing
the rules of a society, defence, foreign affairs, the economy, and public
services. I will be covering two forms of government that are
democracy and monarchy.
DEMOCRACY
DEMOCRACY

The word democracy comes from the Greek words "demos",

meaning people, and "kratos" meaning power; so democracy can
be thought of as "power of the people": a way of governing
which depends on the will of the people.
Democracy is a form of government in which the people have the
authority to deliberate and decide the political leaders.
Democracy is a form of government in which a nation's citizens have the
power to decide the laws under which they will live. These decisions are
made via either a vote of the people in a "direct democracy" (also called
a "true" or "pure" democracy), or through elected officials who vote on
behalf of their constituents in a "representative democracy".

The first known democracy in the world was in Athens. Athenian

democracy developed around the fifth century B.C.E. The Greek idea of
democracy was different from present-day democracy because, in
Athens, all adult citizens were required to take an active part in the
government.

MONARCHY
MONARCHY

Monarchy is the oldest form of government in the United

Kingdom. In a monarchy, a king or queen is Head of State. The
British Monarchy is known as a constitutional monarchy. This
means that, while The Sovereign is Head of State, the ability to
make and pass legislation resides with an elected Parliament.
A monarchy is a country that is ruled by a monarch, and
monarchy is this system or form of government. A monarch, such
as a king or queen, rules a kingdom or empire. In a constitutional
monarchy, the monarch's power is limited by a constitution. But
in an absolute monarchy, the monarch has unlimited power.
The absolute monarchy system can be quite harmful if the rule is
extremely selfish.
