SUAREZ NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

GULAYAN SA PAARALAN
S.Y 2022-2023
Phase 1
Before the implementation

This is the area of gulayan sa paaralan looked like before. We did a lot of preparation such as clearing the area which is the usual step before planting.
As part of the preparation, we tapped the Department of Agriculture to assist and provide our program in the form of gardening tools, vegetable seeds and fertilizer and guide as well. We didn’t expect the all out support that they gave to us.
Phase 2
During the Implementation

Learners at this time were able to help during the implementation because
Face to Face classes resume. They did not just help, but also learn and inculcate in
their minds the values and importance of farming.
We have variety of vegetables planted such as ampalaya, sitaw, upo, kangkong, kamatis, pipino, etc.
and our star of all vegetables our hydroponics lettuce. With the kind of soil that we have, we did a lot of trials on
what crop is suitable to plant. So we found out that ampalaya is very much HIYANG and the rest are alternatives.
Since we want to explore other means of producing crops. We tried hydroponic system as an
innovation also to address the problem of our soil and lot space as well. We used the KRATKY method in planting
lettuce.
Seedlings were already transplanted . Aside from watering they were also nurtured with organic fertilizer.
We did some repair of our greenhouse of our lettuce.

for maintenance and for the next round of planting. We have also donated small amount during the Summer Reading Camp 2022.

For the remaining months of the school year 2022-2023, we have started germinating 220 seeds of vegetables and prepared soil for the coming IKASA Festival (tentative schedule is on the
