INTRODUCTION
What is puerperal sepsis ?
According to The World Healthby mainly

Organisation (WHO),–an infection of
Streptococcus
the women genital tract occurs after
pyogens, also
childbirth(within 42 days of the
known as Group
postpartum period), called Puerperal

CEACAM1 (Surface receptor
protein)
Carcino-
Embryonic R28 has a domain similar to IgI3
Antigen-Related CEACAM1 is an immunomodulatory receptor that binds to
Cell Adhesion some bacterial proteins containing an Ig like fold
Molecule 1 designated IgI3

The IgI3 domain of R28 binds to the N terminal

domain of CEACAM1
RESULT

The R28 adhesin of puerperal sepsis S.pyogens isolates interacts with CEACAM1.
CEACAM1 is a highly specific receptor for R28 adhesin.
Structural basis and human specificity of R28-IgI3 interaction with CEACAM1.
R28 promotes adherence of S. pyogens to human cervical epithelial cells and suppresses wound closure
through a CEACAM1-dependent mechanism.
S.Pyogens impairs the human immune response through R28 CEACAM1 interaction.
DISCUSSION:

Role of R28-CEACAM1 interaction in S. pyogens puerperal sepsis pathogenesis.
