Who We Are
INTRODUCTION

The World Surgical Foundation Philippines, Inc. (WSFP) is a non-stock, non-


profit charitable foundation organized and committed to enhance the surgical
health care capacity of the Philippines. WSFP’s mission is to provide the
Filipino marginalized sector the access to quality, sustainable, and equitable
surgical healthcare, including surgical specialists, and first-world grade
equipment.

Our Story
How it all began

World Surgical Foundation (USA)


The organization’s board and volunteer leaders are the
instrument core group that supported the World Surgical
Foundation of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a private
volunteer organization in the US founded in 1997.

Philippines Outreach
Since 2008, this band of pioneer volunteers has been
the pillar of the organization’s altruistic mission and
surgical care advocacy in the Philippines.

established on June 30, 2017 as an independent charitable
organization in the Philippines.

OUR LADY OF PEACE HOSPITAL

1. BASIC INFORMATION:
• Location: Coastal Road, San Dionisio, Paranaque
• Hospital Classification: Level 1 General Hospital
• Property Size: 1.24 hectares
• Property Status: On lease from the Philippine
Reclamation Authority from Aug 21, 2015 to Aug 21,
2040
• Bed Capacity: 100 (licensed up to 300 beds)

2. HISTORY 
• Foundation of Our Lady of Peace Mission, Inc. was
established in 2002, it  evolved from a medical mission
group, the Foundation expanded its services to assist
the poor communities in Sinalong, Malate, Paco,
Navotas, Quezon City and the Aetas in Zambales. 
• The Foundation started under the supervision of Sister
Eva Fidela Maamo, SPC, M.D. Sister Eva is a medical
surgeon who learned firsthand about the debilitating
impact of poverty and diseases on the poor while
serving the minority groups of South Cotabato.
• Serves approx. 3,000 – 3,500 patients per year
• Mostly caters to charity/ poor patients in NCR &
Region IV

3.  PROJECT DETAILS

• To become the first surgical center in all fields in global


partnership with World Surgical Foundation 
• A fully dedicated surgical center for the Filipino urban poor
• Oncology Center for operative patients who are also cancer
patients' communities.
• A rehabilitation center for:
o Orthopedic patients
o Cleft lip and cleft palate patients and other speech
pathologies
o Stroke and non-operative patients
o A diagnostic center       
o Cardiac surgery patients

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE:


• Rehabilitation and upgrading of the existing main facility
• Creation of new wing that can cater more medical
services
• Installation of advanced green energy-efficient
technology to help reduce dependence from utility
companies
• Building of a halfway house for out-of-town patients (and
families) needing long-term treatment and rehabilitation

4. ECONOMIC IMPACT 

• Hospital serving NCR and Region IV (Population – 5,107,301)


• Estimate 3,600 – 4,000 surgeries per year
• Monetary Equivalent of services: Php 288 million/year
• Disability Adjusted Life Years averted (WHO data : 17 years/child)
• Income projected/patient during Productive Years

Php 150k per patient/year Php 540 million for 3,600 patients

5. ADVANTAGES
• Large portion of the land remains unused. Only 30%
is occupied by the hospital, while 50% of it is open
space
• Its location is suitably near local and international
gateways of the country – the Ninoy Aquino
International Airport (NAIA) and the Paranaque
Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX)
