CHARLES ROBERT DARWIN WAS BORN IN 1809 AND DIED IN 1889 WENT TO EDINBURGH CITY WITH HIS BROTHER TO STUDY MEDICINE WITH A VIEW TO BECOMING A PHYSICIAN DARWIN WAS NOT A GOOD STUDENT AT SCHOOL.HE QUIT MEDICAL SCHOOL,ONLY TO BE RESCUED BY HIS FATHER WEALTHY AND SENT HIM TO CAMBRIDGE.

PUBLISHED HIS THEORY WITH COMPELLING EVIDENCE FOR EVOLUTION IN HIS 1859 BOOK ON THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES.

Story about Charles Darwin

Many today assume that Darwin was the originator of the idea of evolution but the concept had actually been around as early as Greek times.
Darwin was most influenced by his father,Robert and his famous grandfather Erasmus and he was familiar with his grandfathers writings on evolution which through the book,Zoonomia.

Charles Darwin eventually rejected Christianity and could not accept the fate he understood it to decree for unbelievers such his grandfather,father,older brother and himself.

HOW CHARLES DARWIN DIED

Darwin was deeply affected by the death of his older brother Erasmus ("Ras") in August 1881, and it is conjectured that his grief may have exacerbated the seriousness of his own poor health. In early 1882 he had several minor heart attacks. His condition worsened and on April 19, 1882, at 73 years of age, he died at Down House, after several hours of nausea, intense vomiting and retching, symptoms of a chronic illness that bedeviled him for the last 40 years of his life. At his bedside, and attending to his needs, were his wife Emma, his daughter Henrietta and his son Francis. Darwin's last words, spoken to his wife Emma, were in actuality, "I am not in the least afraid to die."

How Darwin came up with the theory

His five-year voyage on HMS Beagle established him as an eminent geologist whose observations and theories supported Charles Lylle's uniformitarian ideas(the idea that the Earth was shaped by slow-moving forces), and publication of his journal of the voyage made him famous as a popular author.

WHAT THE THEORY IS ALL ABOUT?

This theory can be summarized into five key observations and inferences drawn from them : Species have great fertility. They make more offspring than can grow to adulthood. Populations remain roughly the same size, with modest fluctuations. Food resources are limited, but are relatively constant most of the time. In sexually reproducing species, generally no two individuals are identical. Variation is rampant. Much of this variation is heritable.
