Stalingrad

Nina Sobotková
Author

• The book I have chosen is Stalingrad

written by Antony Beevor. Autor is a
Military historian. His writing focuses
mainly on the second world war and
adjourned conflicts like the Spanish Civil
war.
• This book as the title may hint is mainly focuses on the battle
of Stalingrad and its bloody conclusion. But it's not all. This
book is the first part of a two-part series Stalingrad and berlin.
Stalingrad starts before ww2 even started and describes the

What is it blunder and victories of the soviet command with the use of
their own archives. The book is extremely gripping as it very
narrative despite being a non-fiction title. Beevor aside from
about? the description of movements of the numerous division also
sprinkles in stories of individual soldiers that thru their diaries
really bring the terror of battle to life. I also liked its focus on
tactics used by both sides this comes to term mainly in the
middle of the book where the battle of Stalingrad is described
in great detail. I really struggle to find negatives about this
book so I will say that title is on the longer side and is certainly
not good for reading in one session, also descriptions of troop
movements can get by samy but it's helped with great maps.
Also, a topic of this book lends itself very well to words I don't
tend to use very often such as battlegroup.
