Prepositions
What was our
previous lesson?
What are
prepositions?
Give example of a
preposition and use it in a
sentence.
Look at the
pictures.
What do you see in the
pictures?
Do you know about the
school’s programs and
activities?
Do you always participate to
school programs and
activities?
Try reading the following
conversation and find out
how prepositions in, on and
under have been used.

Miss Andres announced a
program about the
“Importance of Tree Planting
and its Effect to a Healthy
Community” to her class.
Miss Andres: Class, our school advocates
a tree planting program for us to breath a
healthy fresh air in our community. What
should we need to remember when we
plant trees and in handling sharp objects?
Yes, Ana?
Ana : Ma’am, we should handle sharp
objects carefully. Keep the tools in a box
after use.
Miss Andres: Correct! Would you like to
add more Lisa?
Lisa : Water the plants after on time to
keep them healthy.
Miss Andres: Is it important for the
community to participate in the said
program, Jojo?
Jojo : Yes ma’am. Community involvement
in a school activity creates a good rapport
between the community and school
personnel resulting in a good relationship.
Let’s read the following sentences which
are taken from the conversation.
1. Keep the tools in a box after use.
2. Place the plants under a tree.
3. Water the plants after on time to keep
them healthy.

The underlined words are called
prepositions. In the above sentences,
these connect the nouns to the other
words in it. Also, prepositions in, on, and
under are directly placed before the noun
box, time, and tree.
Let’s have more exercises
for you to get familiarized
more about what
prepositions are.
Do you play with
your pet?
Great!
This is my pet Ella. She is
a cute cat.

Can you tell me where she is

using a preposition?
Let’s try this!
Directions: Read and choose
the appropriate preposition
inside the parentheses.
Underline the correct answer.
Let us always remember that
prepositions are used to link nouns,
pronouns, or phrases to other words
within the sentence. They act to
connect the people, objects, time and
locations of a sentence.
These are usually short words and
they are normally placed directly in
front of nouns.
Some prepositions like in, on and
under are just some of it which are
used to indicate noun’s location.
Directions: Look at each
picture, then use the correct
preposition in the sentence.
Write in, on, or under on the
blank.
