 TITICACA
FROG
The frog's habitat is only Lake Titicaca. The giant
frog has a large body, rounded, broad and flattened
head. Its main characteristic is its skin, which is soft
and loose in the shape of a sac and hangs in loose
folds. They feed on molluscs, insects and
crustaceans. Frogs are in danger of extinction due to
habitat pollution, climate change and mass trapping.
WHITE-WINGED
KETTLE
White-Winger Kettle inhabits the dry forests of Piura,
Lambayeque and Cajamarca. It has a black plumage
over most of its body and white wings. Feeds on
seeds, leaves, fruit and flowers. It is in danger of
extinction due to the destruction of its habitat and
uncontrolled hunting.
 THE SPECTACLED
BEAR
This specie lives in the tropical Andes. Almost all of
its fur is black except for the fur on its neck and the
circular white fur around its eyes. Feeds on fruit,
vegetables and meat. The main causes of their
extinction are fragmentation and loss of habitat.
ANDEAN
TAPIR
The tapir's habitat is the montane forests and
moorlands of Piura and Cajamarca. It is the smallest
of the 4 species that exist, its coat is black and has a
white border on its lips. They feed on grasses, shoots,
leaves and fruits. It is in danger of extinction due to
excessive hunting and loss of its habitat.
 ANDEAN
CONDOR
It is one of the largest birds in the world. Inhabits the
coastal mountains and the mountain range. It has a
very long body, its beak is white and its legs are grey.
This bird is a scavenger and therefore has a very
important role to play, as it impedes massive
reproduction of bacteria and keeps its ecosystem in
balance. The causes of their extinction are loss of
their habitat and poisoning of their carrion.
CAT OF THE
ANDES
They are found in areas with little vegetation and
rocky areas. It has a grey coat with brown spots and a
long, thick tail. It feeds on rodents such as chinchillas
and viscachas. This specie is in danger of extinction
due to illegal hunting and loss of habitat.
