For more information regarding Proctorio exams
• Ensure your device is charged and your equipment is
working (camera, microphone and internet). search AskUOW or visit uow.to/online-exams
• Avoid streaming on other devices to maintain a
stable internet speed.
Don’t panic if your internet cuts out during an exam,
wait for it to reconnect and log back in. If you are
ejected from your exam, log back into Moodle, re-
enter your exam and continue where you left off.

We understand that life happens. If you're experiencing personal issues or feeling
unwell, we encourage you to make a call early on whether you’re up to it.
  
• If you cannot sit or complete your exam due to illness or another extenuating circumstance, ensure
that you apply for Academic Consideration before your exam starts or prior to
completing/submitting your exam.  

• Once you complete your exam, you can no longer apply for Academic Consideration

• If you’re unable to take your exam, make sure you’re available for the supplementary and deferred
exam period from 17 - 21 July, 2023.

• If you have a medical condition that makes online exams hard, apply for an access plan.

Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is a core value at UOW...
Sometimes Academic Misconduct can even be accidental
Here are a few ways you can avoid it
Academic misconduct is taken
seriously at UOW
In 2022:
• There were 1,084 suspected cases of academic misconduct reported.
• Over 400 students received a low/medium-level penalty – the most
common penalty was a zero mark for the assessment task. Most of
these students had to resubmit the assessment task and complete an
Academic Integrity Module.

Online exams in 2022


• There were 149 reported cases of suspected academic misconduct for
online exams.
• Many students found themselves in Faculty Investigation Committee
hearings because of unintentional academic misconduct due to not
reading the instructions properly and using unauthorised materials.
Dos and don’ts of online
exams
Do:
 Complete the StartSmart Module 
 Understand exam instructions and restrictions – ask your teacher if
you don’t know
 Test your equipment and get IT support if you need it
 Get the support you need before exams if you have a medical
condition or personal issues (Access Plan / Academic
Consideration)

Don’t:
Use unauthorised materials like headphones and mobile phones
Use unauthorised programs like Google or Chegg
Use AI generative tools like ChatGPT unless permitted and
acknowledged
