HOW HERTZ PROVED
THE EXISTENCE OF
RADIO WAVES
HISTORY OF
USES OF
RADIO WAVES
In 1895, a young Italian named Guglielmo Marconi
invented what he called “the wireless telegraph” while
experimenting in his parents' attic. He used radio
waves to transmit Morse code and the instrument he
used became known as the radio.
CHARACTERISTICS OF
RADIO WAVES

 They can travel in a vacuum

  Radio waves are a form of radiation known as
electromagnetic waves
 The wavelength of radio waves is longer than
infrared light.
They can travel in the vacuum at the speed of
light:
300 MILLION m/s or 3x10^8 m/s
APPLICATIONS OF RADIO WAVES

Various frequencies of radio

waves are used for:
television
 FM and AM radio broadcasts
 military communications
cell phones
ham radio
wireless computer networks
CAN RADIO WAVES AND
FREQUENCY HARM US?
Although there have been health concerns,
like tissue damage. Most types of
radiofrequency radiation have not been
found to cause harmful health effects
THANK YOU!
