What is pop music

Pop music originated in England, in the middle of the 20th


century, taking elements of different genres from the popular
music of the time.
They have a good rhythm, a catchy melody, and are easy to
remember and sing along to. They usually have a chorus that's
repeated several times and two or more verses. Most pop
songs are between two and five minutes long, and the lyrics
are usually about the joys and problems of love and
relationships.

HISTORY

The beginning of pop music


It is in the fifties when the expression pop music begins to
sound stronger. Those were the days when rock and roll was
booming and the word pop was used to refer to the softest
melodies within rock.

CHANGE

It was in the sixties that a change took place. While in the United States
Elvis Presley lives his moment of glory, rock and roll comes to England
and begins to acquire nuances of other styles. In this way, Liverpool can
be considered the birthplace of pop music. Thus, during these years,
British musicians and bands expanded internationally, spreading the
pop style with them. Bands like The Beatles filled the charts with songs
that went around the world. At this time pop music was already
considered totally opposite to rock.
REMARKABLE MUSICIAN
Bing Crosby was the first artist to BING CROSBY
bear the pseudonym "King of Pop",
his great fame and world
popularity during the years 30s,
40s, 50s, 60s ,70s and his musical
contribution earned him this
distinction, is considered the first
multimedia artist and the first MICHAEL
cultural figure of large audience JACKSON
worldwide. But Michael Jackson
has been called «King of Pop» from
the 1980s to the present and his
album Thriller holds the record for
the best-selling album of all time.
