Summary

– “Jane Eyre” is a story about a young, orphaned girl, who lives with her
aunt and her cousins, the Reeds at Gateshead Hall.
– Her situation was common for the ninetheenth-century and Charlotte
Bronte criticize the fact that many people in that period did not live a
moral life.
The girls were not consider important people and nobody was interest
in their education. They were seen as inferior to man…so that
Charlotte tried through her novels to put the women under a better
light!
Jane Eyre`s Story…

Jane is ten years old, an outsider in the Reed family. Her female
cousins, Georgiana and Eliza, tolerate her, but do not love her. And
their brother, John is hostile to Jane, reminding her every time that
she is dependent on his mother. Even if Jane Eyre suffered a lot,
she continued to believe in a brighter future.
After she grows in strength, excels at school, she accepts a
governess position at a manor called Thornfield.
Jane`s Story...

Jane`s employer at Thornfield is a dark, impassioned man (at first

sight) named Rochester. In that house Jane`s destiny turned out to
be happier than she thought. To everyone surprise, Jane falls in love
with this man….Edward Rochester. He has been married with a
women when he was young who has gone mad. He show kindness
to her like a real gentelman, he is a good man and his attitude make
Jane love him more.
How beautiful is to say like Jane, that she cannot abandon the
man she trully loves despite of his past or history.
Jane`s Story...

At the end of the novel, Jane become a strong, independent

women. She is rebellious and her personality contains many
qualities that would be considered desirable for an English women
from that time…she is sincere and lacks personal vanity.
The rebel streak, Charlotte Bronte has, is especially the “inequalities
of society”. Jane reacts strongly, when she is discredited due to her
class or gender. So through her character it had been proved that a
women`s beauty is given by her soul, not only by her appearance.
Jane`s Story…

“Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain and little, I am

soulless and heartless? You think wrong! I have as much soul as you
and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty
and much wealth I am going to named it…blessing.”
This was said by Charlotte Bronte in her book. She wants to
emphasize the fact that the man`s value is not given by the social
statute, but by the role he plays in society, and by the things that
spread out from his heart…the KINDESS, the LOVE, the
EDUCATION, the FAITH…the RESPECT FOR PEOPLE.
