INTRODUCTION
A systematic and independent examination to determine whether quality
activity and related results comply with the planned arrangements and
whether these arrangements are implemented effectively and are suitable to
achieve objectives.

Quality audits are typically performed at defined intervals.

Any failure in their implementation may be published publicly and may lead
to a revocation of quality certification.
TYPES
First party audit
It is an audit performed by an (internal audit) organization on itself.
Second party audit
is an audit performed by your (supplier audit) employee(s) to a company
which supplies your company with a product or service.
Third party audit
is an audit by an independent organisation other than the costumer or a
supplier.
OBJECTIVES OR REASONS
Internal Audit
Determine level of compliance.
Build confidence in amp and QA system.
Determine interpartmental trust,understanding and communication.
Recommend corrective actions.
Monitor improvement.
External Audit
Establish and monitor capability of supplier or contractor to deliver goods and
service, that are fit for purpose(on time and quality required).
Build mutual confidence.
Promote understanding and communication between the parties involved.
Steps to perform a quality audit
Audit Methods & Techniques
1.Horizontal Auditing
It involves examination of each functional area of an organization to
verify adequacy and implementation of quality.
Used for internal system auditing and,second & third party assessment when
it necessary to establish basic QMS has been installed and is being
implemented and maintained.
Each functional area is checked for conformance with quality system
requirements applicable to that area.
2.Vertical Auditing
It involves examining functional areas of an organization that are
actively contributing to a specific work package or contractual requirements.
3. Random Auditing
It examines the various aspects of an organisation operation by the
auditor as needed to closely examine a particular activity.
CONCLUSION
Auditing tasks is the determination of compliance of facts with pre defined
specifications.
Auditing is the review of an organization’s quality system in order to achieve
quality throughout the process.
Audits are the most effective when performed by the qualified professionals
who work together and are focussed on clear objectives.
