WHAT IS INFECTION
CONTROL…
• In health care and public health practice settings, infection control
includes various measures that prevent and contain the spread of
infectious disease. These measures include:
• Hand Washing
• Infection control standard, contact, droplet and airborne precautions
• Procedures for decontamination of persons and disinfection of
equipment and the environment
• Control of the vectors of infection
CHAIN OF INFECTION …
WHAT IS RESERVOIR….

•  “Reservoirs” are the places on and in our bodies and

in the environment where germs. live. Germs
frequently spread between and among these reservoirs.
MODE OF TRANSMISSION…
• An infectious agent may be transmitted from its natural reservoir to a susceptible host in
different ways. There are different classifications for modes of transmission. Here is one
classification:
• Direct
• Direct contact
• Droplet spread
• Indirect
• Airborne
• Vehicleborne
• Vectorborne (mechanical or biologic)
MODE OF TRANSMISSION IN
MALARIA….

• Malaria spreads when a mosquito becomes infected with the

disease after biting an infected person, and the infected
mosquito then bites a noninfected person. The malaria parasites
enter that person's bloodstream and travel to the liver. When the
parasites mature, they leave the liver and infect red blood cells.

• Malaria is the indirect transmission contact…
