first accesses the training.

Problems

• License periods could go on and on depending on when

each staff person accesses the training.

• No renewal model.

Multiple Users–SPEL Web Site
Possible Licensing Scenario

• Annual one-year renewal license—legal contract with Education

sales reps.

• Country receives bulk transaction codes for the customer.

• All codes expire in one year.

• If site renews, customer rep just extends expiration date one year.

• Make this available only at the library/course levels.

• Customer could still use EPTO credits.

Current Licensing Model
SAS OnlineTutor is a licensed SAS software product that requires
standard software contract.

Benefits

• SCORM conformant.

• Site can install on their intranet.

• Sales reps can easily add this as a supplement to a sales contract.

• This model resulted in over $1.2 million in 2006, mostly due to

Software Sales rep sales.

Problems with Current Licensing Model

• Inconsistent revenue allocation across countries—some goes to

software sales and some to Education—some managers didn’t
even know SOT had been sold in their countries.

• Software reps sell most of it, U.S. and internationally.

• Education reps have difficulty with the contracts – not used to

software contracts.

• Cumbersome RE process to follow (9.2 will already have outdated

EG training).

• Customers can’t use EPTO credits.

Possible Licensing Scenario

• Keep current SAS OnlineTutor product as a standard SAS software

product but standardize revenue allocation across countries.

• Any way to use EPTO credits for this?

• Let Software Reps and/or Education reps fill out contracts and get
credit but revenue go to Education (need to train Education reps to
fill out contracts)

Another Possible Licensing Scenario

• Remove as a standard SAS software product and make it an

Education product.

• Deliver as downloadable zip files.

• Develop new legal contracts with annual renewals for these

products.

• Education would get all of revenue and divide it between countries.

• Customers could use EPTO credits.
