06.Bienvenido O. Juliano
07.Gregorio Y. Zara
08.Eduardo Quisumbing
Contributions
He pioneered studies in the isolation and
elucidation (or identifying the chemical structure)
of chemical components from indigenous
Philippine plants. In particular, he studied
alkaloids, organic compounds that can be derived
from plants and mostly contain basic nitrogen
atoms.

Alfredo Santos
Contributions
He is known for his researches on ultraviolet light
of different wavelengths, effect of radioactive
radiation on Euglena, high voltage electrical
discharges in a vacuum, and many others. His
works have been published in international journals
such as the American Physics Review and the
Journal of Franklin Institute.

Casimiro del Rosario

Contributions
He researched on the production of ethyl ester fuels
from sugarcane and coconuts and devised a method
of extracting residual coconut oil through chemical
means

Julian Banzon
Contributions
He demonstrated that the amylose (a linear polymer
made up of D-glucose units) content of starch
determines the quality of milled rice in Asia. In
addition, he also delved into the nutritional quality
of rice and formulated an innovative and improved
methods for grain quality evaluation.

Bienvenido Juliano
Contributions
He started the invention of two-way television
telephone, electrical kinetic resistance known as the
Zara effect, airplane engine using alcohol as fuel
which was first flown at the Manila International
Airport on September 30, 1954 and solar energy.

Gregorio Y. Zara
Contributions
He is pioneer in the study of Philippine medicinal
plants where he made tremendous contribution. His
book Medicinal Plants in Philippines is the
forerunner of all researches on medicinal plants in
the country. He was author of more than 129
scientific articles published here and abroad.
