ABSTRACT
THIS ORAL SEMINAR PRESENTATION WILL BE DISCUSSING A REASON AS TO
WHY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE REFUSE TO GET VACCINATED AND THE IMPACT
THAT THIS DECISION MAY HAVE ON THEIR LIVES AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS. IT
WILL FIRSTLY LOOK AT ONE OF MAIN CAUSES OF VACCINATION HESITANCY,
WHICH IS FALSE MEDIA INFLUENCE, THEN WE WILL LOOK AT THE EFFECT OF
VACCINATION HESITANCY ON THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE INVOLVED. THE
PRESENTATION WILL CONCLUDE WITH A NOTE, HIGHLIGHTING THE ROLE THE
MEDIA PLAYS IN INFLUENCING PEOPLE’S OPINION ON VACCINES.

INTRODUCTION
The Covid-19 pandemic has motivated governments around the world to enlist the help
of various strategies to help curb the spread of the virus. One of the most effective
strategies enlisted is getting vaccinated. Therefore, this presentation will explain why
some people refuse to get vaccinated and the impact it will have on their lives and the
lives of others.
WHY DO SOME PEOPLE REFUSE TO GET
VACCINATED?

• Media has been negatively used to


promote ANTI-VAX ideologies to
the general public.
• Changed people’s perception of
vaccines
THE IMPACTS THAT ANTI-VAXERS WILL
HAVE ON THEIR OWN LIVES AND THE
LIVES OF OTHERS.

• Anti-Vaxxers get severely sick


• People around them get infected
• More people get hospitalized
• Increase death toll
CONCLUSION

In conclusion, it is evident that media has an important role in relaying critical


information to the general public, however, sometimes these information being
relayed can be misleading and can lead to devastating impacts on society as a
whole.
