CLIENT
 Client represents the highest element in the organizational structure.
 Client represents a company or group of companies.
 From the SAP system’s landscape perspective , normally there are 3 clients
 Development (DEV)
 Quality (QAS)
 Production (PRD)

COMPANY CODE
 Company code is a level below the client in the SAP system.
 At this level company legally reports income statements & balance sheets.
 It’s an org unit of S/4 HANA finance.

Creation or Change of company code following is a config path used

PLANT
 Plant is an org unit within logistics.
 Plant can be a manufacturing site, a head office, a maintenance plant within a company.
 At plant level below mentioned tasks can be performed
 Managing inventory
 Managing demand
 Planning production
 Executing & controlling production
 Performing MRP

In the org structure we can assign only one company code to a plant, but we can assign multiple plants
to the same company code.

After creation of a plant it has to be assigned to a company code & it is mandatory.

STORAGE LOCATION
 Storage location is a physical or virtual storage site for materials.
 Even storage tanks or silos can be treated as storage locations.
 The limitation is that in sap system there is no provision to define maximum storage capacity
but this provision is available in EWM SAP S/4 HANA.
 Within a plant many storage locations can be created, but we can assign a storage location to
one plant only.

MRP CONTROLLERS
 MRP controller can be an individual role or group of roles performing the same task. It’s
defined based on the role, responsibility or area of working instead of individuals.
 The MRP controller is primarily responsible for attending to the requirements of materials.
 MRP controller is assigned to MRP 1 view of the material master.
 This MRP controller can be used as one of the selection criteria when we run several reports.

CAPACITY PLANNERS
 Capacity planner or capacity planner group is responsible for evaluating the current work
center or resource capacity. If required levelling of capacity can be performed.
 The capacity planners are assigned in capacity header data of work center or resource.
 This can be utilized as one of the selection criteria in all capacity evaluation & levelling
reports.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULERS
 Production scheduler is responsible for ensuring that production execution & operations takes
place as per production plan.
 Production schedulers can be assigned in work scheduling view of material master.

SAP CALENDAR
 For planning & scheduling to effectively take place, it’s imperative that a calendar exist in the
system.
 This calendar is then assigned to the plant.
 The SAP calendar creation function includes three individual steps:
• Defining holidays
• Creating holiday calendar
• Defining a factory calendar and assigning a holiday calendar to it.
