One contemporary Arthurian source
"Concerning the Ruin of Britain", or "De Excidio Britanniae" was written by the Northern British monk, St. Gildas, in the mid-6th century. The passage places Arthur firmly around the turn of the 6th century. The earliest full stories concerning King Arthur appear to be the little known Welsh tales of "Culhwch and Medieval Legends tell us Olwen" and the "Dream of that Camelot was none other Rhonabwy,” dating from before the than the Great Historic City 11th century- of Winchester in the heart of modern Hampshire.
