 DDVE Deployment- DDVE Active Tier Configuration

• 96TB active tier disks created and attached to DDVE VM during initial deployment.

• 24 disks created with 4232GiB each for active tier.

• 12 disks created on “DP-appliance-ddve1” datastore and other 12 disks are created on “ DP-appliance-
ddve2” datastore.

• Disks are configured for ddve active tier based on licensed capacity.

• Disks configured for active tier are considered from both datastores with different spindle number.

 DDVE Deployment- DDVE Cloud Tier Configuration

• 12TiB cloud tier metadata disk is created to support maximum cloud tier capacity of 192TB

• 3 disks created with 4232 GiB each for cloud tier metadata. 2 disks are created on “ DP-appliance-
ddve1” datastore and 1 disk is created on “ DP-appliance-ddve2” datastore.

• Cloud tier capacity is based on license applied on DDVE.

 DDVE Deployment- DDVE Cache Tier Configuration

• Cache tier is not supported by standalone DDVE, but this feature is enabled specifically for DP
4400 configured DDVE.

• Cache is 1% of Active Tier max capacity

• One disk of 1TB is created on SSD datastore “ DP-appliance-ssd” for cache tier.
– Disk shows up as “SAS-SSD” in DDVE

• This disk is configured in DDVE cache tier

• Cache tier mainly used to provide instant access/Restore support.

 DDVE Deployment- DDVE Rollback
• Customer clicks on retry to start the rollback activity

• Background configuration in ACM

– DDVE configuration such as FS, ddboost user etc. is reverted
– DDVE VM is powered off
– DDVE VM is not deleted
– DataDomain vAPP is deleted
