The Iranian flash floods

By: Luca Binz

How the floods started

 The heavy rainfall started early 23rd July and

did not stop for a few days, these heavy rains
caused massive floods across most of Iran.

 This is a rainfall map of Iran at that time

The flood

 The heavy rainfall in the days leading to the

flood cause an extreme amount of water being
deposited in rivers across the country that
caused them to overflow into the many villages
surrounding them.

The impact

 The impacts of this event was extreme,

thousands of homes and properties were
destroyed, and many people lost. The floods
and rainfall also drowned many crops which
will lead to less locally produced food.

afterward

 Most people were luckily evacuated quickly and

mostly safely. A way to reduce the impact of
such an event is to build houses and communities
in higher regions and a bit further from rivers
otherwise there is not allot you can do to
prevent flood damage.
