KAP SURVEY REGARDING MALARIA AT LUMHS JAMSHORO ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND:– Malaria is a common vector borne disease and its prevalence is high in SINDH province of PAKISTAN due to hot climate and poor vector control programme, so it is important to Know the perception of community regarding malaria transmission and control. Our motive of survey is to access KAP regarding malaria transmission , and to give awareness about malaria control at LUMHS Jamshoro. METHOD:-We conducted a cross sectional survey at LUMHS Jamshoro . A study structured field piloted questionnaire was administered to 100 randomly selected undergraduate and paramedics staff at LUMHS Jamshoro. Descriptive statics were used to summarise data. RESULTS:–Of the 100 Participants 90% of the participants knows that the cause of malaria is mosquito bite,92% participants has knowledge about sign and symptoms of malaria , the source of their information is medical books and literature.98% participants were agreed to treat malaria as soon as possible , and 80% participants opined that it is a responsibility of public health staff and local government to control malaria.20% of participants have been never exposed to malarial parasite . Only 7 to 8% participants visited tertiary care hospital during malarial episodes.75 to 80% participants has good knowledge about malaria and they are practicing adequate malaria control efforts (using nets, mosquito repellent etc).Only 25% were active in malaria awareness programmes and others were keen to participate in such programs. CONCLUSION:–Participants showed good knowledge , positive attitude, and fair practice towards malaria Community , public health staff and local government participation is important to control malaria ,and in future to eradicate this menace new perspectives and approaches should be discovered.
