Wankarani
 UBICACION

✣ Se desarrolló en los departamentos de
La Paz, y Oruro, al norte y Noreste del
Lago Poopó. Su antigüedad se remonta
al año 1.200 antes de nuestra era y
pervive hasta el siglo segundo después
de Cristo.

 ORGANIZACION SOCIAL
✣ La sociedad Wankarani se caracterizó por la
construcción de aldeas en montículos artificiales con
sus características viviendas de planta circular,
también es conocida por su sistema económico
basado principalmente en las tareas de pastoreo de
camélidos, situación que los llevo probablemente a
considerar a la llama como una deidad, creencia que
fue plasmada en la Esculturas Líticas de Camélidos,
temática sobre la que se edificó la presente
investigación.

 Periodo formativo
En Bolivia aparecen restos de ocupacion dese el 12.000-10.000 ac. hasta
el 1200 ac. se desarrollan unas culturas en el altiplano. La cultura
Chiripa y Wankarani que son las dos mas importantes
 ECONOMIA

Su economía se baso en el pastoreo de

camélidos
Los hombres de esa cultura participaron la
agricultura y ganadería ya que lograron la
domesticación de animales como la llama y de
plantas como la papa y la quinua
Esta cultura wankarini conocido la
manufactura de la de la cerámica de tipo
utilitario carente de pintura ; la fundición de
cobre

 CULTURA
CERAMICA

La ceramica es lisa, pulida a escapula y muy fina. Son

caracteristicas de la cultura de wankarani, una serie de
esculturas en piedra que reprecentan cabezas de
auquenidos cn una espiga.
IDIOMA
Los idiomas utilizados eran el pukina, casi extinto en el
siglo XVI
VESTIMENTA
Se basaron en el pastoreo de camélidos de donde sacaban
la lana para su vestimenta

 ARQUITECTURA Asentamientos sobre montículos
de tierra con una altura de 5m.

Una tipología circular con bases en piedra

clavadas en la tierra y muros de adobe
donde destaca los PUTUCOS
“edificios de tipología circular con bases
de piedra“.

Los edificios residenciales se agrupaban entorno a uno publico

 Arquitectura
La vivienda poseía generalmente planta circular. El proceso
de construcción habría tenido 3 pasos:
Se plantaban troncos o ramas generando un circulo con un
diámetro aprox. De 3ª 3.6 metros

Luego se revestían las paredes con barro. Para que luego la

construcción se coronada con un techo de paja.

Luego se entrelazaban empleando un

tejido de totora o paja.

Posterior se dejaba un espacio “vano” para que sirviera de

entrada.

 Tecnología

Tecnológicamente, conocían la función

de cobre por medio de wayraslos cuales
son hornos que funcionan con el viento y
que se colocaban en lugares propicios,
usaban hojas de cuarcita y helio basalto,
procedente de las canteras de
queretimina, en sus instrumentos de
labranza

Religión

No hay restos de construcciones

correspondientes a centros religiosos, ni templos
solo se ha encontrado cabezas de camélidos
especialmente llamas tallados en piedra con un
largo cuello espigado. No estan asociados en
ninguna pared por lo que se supone que se
clavaban en el suelo
Posible correspondan a una concepción religiosa
o ceremonial.

 Conclusión
En conclusión la cultura wankarani era una cultura
que se dedicaba a la cerámica, agricultura. Tiene
como característica especial el asentamiento y
construcción de su casa que eran en forma circular
y las rodea una muralla que les protegía.
No tenia religión definida pero se encontraron
muchas cerámicas de forma de cabezas de
camélidos por este motivo que ellos adoraban a las
llamas. Esta cultura existió en el periodo formativo
andino entre 2500 AC. y 500 DC.
