rather than + verb + to + noun. rather than go to a trip.
Expressing Preference
• We use “would prefer + object pronoun + v” to
describe our preferences for the actions of another
person in the present or future.
Structure Example
S + would + prefer + object pronoun + to + v. He would prefer her to give the speech.
S + would + prefer + object pronoun + not + to + v. He would prefer her not to give the speech.
Would + S + prefer + object pronoun + to + v + ? Would he prefer her to give the speech?
