Huruf Hijaiyah

Huruf hijaiyah adalah abjad

dalam bahasa Arab berjumlah
Hijaiyyah 30 huruf bila ditambah dengan
hamzah (‫ )ء‬dan lam alif (‫)الــ‬.
Bagi umat muslim, memahami
bacaan Al Quran dengan baik
dan benar memiliki kaitan yang
erat dengan pemahaman huruf
hijaiyah
Akar kata huruf hijaiyah berasal dari bahasa Arab, yaitu
dari kata harf (huruf) dan kata hijaiyah berasal dari kata
kerja hajja yang bermakna mengeja, menghitung huruf,
dan membaca huruf demi huruf.
Untuk membaca huruf hijaiyah, maka dibutuhkan
pula harakat huruf hijaiyah. Harakat secara bahasa
dapat diartikan sebagai gerakan. Namun, bila
disematkan dalam huruf hijaiyah, harakat berperan
sebagai sebagai tanda baca bagi huruf-huruf
hijaiyah (al dhabt).
Seperti, menentukan pengucapan huruf
hijaiyah dalam Al Quran serta memberi
bunyi a, i, dan u pada suatu huruf.
Mengutip buku Pengantar Al Imla' Dasar (Kaidah Praktis
Menulis Arab) oleh Muh. Yunan Putra, Lc., M. HI, ada
sejumlah bentuk harakat yang dikenal dalam ilmu tajwid. Mulai
dari fathah, dhammah, kasrah, fathatain (tanwin fatah),
dhammatain (tanwin dhammah), kasratain (tanwin kasrah),
sukun, tasydid atau tanda baca panjang lainnya.
