The aim of the study is to provide targets for the Geochronological data
evaluation of ice sheet modelling output. Radiocarbon
Varve
Optically stimulated luminescence
Cosmogenic nuclide dating
Results
A time slice map of the deglaciation of Fennoscandia Ice sheet with isochrons marking every thousand years
between 22 and 13 cal kyr BP and every hundred years between 11,6 and final ice decay after 9.7
cal kyr BP.
Variations in deglaciation patterns are seen, showing differences in climatic and geomorphic settings, ice sheet basal
thermal conditions, topography and between terrestrial and marine margins.
The lowest retreat rates are on the high elevation and maritime Norwegian margin.
A different chronology of moraine over southern Sweden using new LIDAR data.
Retreat rates compared with information provide from the Greenland ice core record, show a correlation between
retreat rate and climatic forcing
Conclusion The time slice map of Fennoscandia Ice Sheet gives the possibility of
testing and refining ice sheet models.
