So, what is the main idea of
this activity?

The player searches for

the tangram pieces that
is exactly similar to the
space on the board, or
that is CONGRUENT to
it.
Objectives:

• Define triangle Congruence.

• Appreciate the importance of congruency in
real life situation.
• Find the corresponding congruent angles,
sides and vertices of a congruent triangle.

What is congruence?
Idea of Congruences

The idea of congruence can be apply in mass production.

The idea of congruence always helps to recognize congruent figures

in the same orientation. When two figures are congruent, you may
slide, flip, or rotate the figures until they overlap exactly.
Properties of Triangle Congruence

If ∠A ≅ ∠B, then
∠A ≅ ∠A ∠B ≅ ∠A
If ∠A ≅ ∠B and
∠B ≅ ∠C, then
∠ A ≅ ∠C
If AB ≅ CD, then
AB ≅ AB CD ≅ AB If AB ≅ CD and
CD ≅ EF, then
AB ≅ EF
Example:

Given: B is the midpoint of AC.

TRIANGLE
• In geometry, a triangle is
a closed, two-dimensional
shape with three straight
sides. It is also a polygon.

• A TRIANGLE has Sides: AB , BC, AC

three SIDES, three
ANGLES, and three Angles: ∠A , ∠B , ∠C

CORRESPONDENCE?
Mathematically speaking,
The symbol for “Corresponds to” is

AB ↔ PQ is read as “line
segment AC corresponds to line
segment PR.”

∠A ↔ ∠P is read as “angle A
corresponds to angle P.”

△ABC is congruent to △PQR ↔ △ABC ≅

△PQR
CONGRUENT TRIANGLE
Congruent Statement:

△ABC ≅ △PQR

△ABC ≅ △PRQ

△ABC can be mapped to △PQR and the correspondents are as follows:

CORRESPONDING ANGLES CORRESPONDING SIDES

∠A corresponds to ∠P AB corresponds to PQ
∠B corresponds to ∠Q BC corresponds to QR
∠C corresponds to ∠R AC corresponds to PR

Two TRIANGLES are CONGRUENT if and only if ALL of their CORRESPONDING

PARTS are CONGRUENT.

THEOREM
∠A + ∠M + ∠T = 180˚

∠A + ∠M + x = 180˚

27˚ + 82˚ + x = 180˚

109˚ + x = 180˚

x = 180˚ - 109˚

x = 71˚

IN A TRIANGLE, WHEN THE VERTICES OF A
THE TWO ANGLES ARE THE ENDPOINTS OF
THE SEGMENT, THE SEGMENT IS SAID TO BE △ABC
THE INCLUDED SIDE OF THE TWO ANGLES.

WHEN THE SIDES OF AN ANGLE ARE THE B C

TWO SIDES OF THE TRIANGLE, THEN THE
ANGLE IS SAID TO BE THE INCLUDED
