Over 400,000 people die

every year due to food

adulteration
What Exactly is Food
Adulteration?
Adulteration is the deliberate lowering of a food's
quality through usually the addition of unapproved
alternative ingredients, typically done to reduce the
price and increase the quantity of a certain food
product.
CLAIMS

1. Cheap ingredients are being used.

2. The companies/entities producing
these goods being shut down.
3. People are dying after eating
adulterated food.
COUNTERCLAIMS

2. Companies are just making the food

cheaper so that people can afford it.
2. People are allergic to the new
ingredients used.
3. Food once expired, is fatal to consume.
INDIA:

A girl in Kerala died from

eating Biryani made of cheap
ingredients.

Seedless papayas
AUSTRALIA & AMERICA

Kangaroo and horse meat was

sold as “Beef”.
One of the largest dairy producers in
China adulterated powdered milk
with melamine, an industrial
compound used in the creation of
plastic materials. The compound is
toxic when ingested and is known to
cause kidney stones. Sadly, the
powdered milk was used as baby
formula, led to 300,000 infants
becoming ill.
Although companies claim that they do not adulterate food, we
should always be careful with what we eat. Buy from trusted
brands. Don’t buy food products just because they’re cheap.
Companies are adulterating their products which is harmful the
consumers’ health. There are many accounts of when people
have fallen ill after eating adulterated food and even died.

YOU!
