Children four to five years old,
child approaching or already in
kindergarten?
If your child is already in
kindergarten, parent think what have
them learn from school. Every night,
let give them a little take review for
how to read letters or count numbers
from 1 to 10.
To a four-year old, the English
language is like a mysterious code. In
this code letters or combination of
letters (known as graphemes) actually
stand for something.
That is – they represent sounds
(known as phonemes). For example;
a two or three – year old, when he
encounter a printed word cat,
represent the one sound “cat”.
He does not understand the function
of the three separate sound.
Gradually, young children must be
told and reminded that reading words
usually involves “sounding out”
individual letters, context clues,
pictures, sounding out the word. The
first step is appreciating this
alphabetic principle.
