Ans:
OSPE - 1
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans: Permanent Maxillary central Incisor

2. What are the function/ General Characteristics

of this particular tooth
Ans : They come under anteriors
• As the name indicate the incisors function in
incising or cutting food.
• These teeth are also important in articulation
of speech and esthetics.
3. What is the tooth number of this tooth from
FDI? (Both right and left)
Ans: 11 and 21
OSPE - 2
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans:

2. What are the anatomical landmarks from this

aspect

3. What is the tooth number of this tooth from FDI?

(Both right and left)

Ans:
OSPE - 2
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans: Permanent Maxillary central Incisor
2. What are the anatomical landmarks from this aspect
• Ans : Crown appears smooth and convex, Shape is
squarish or rectangular
• Mamelons seen-newly erupted
• Sharp mesioincisal angle and rounded distoincisal
angle
• Distal outline is more convex
• Single root tapering to a some what blunt apex
• Cervical line curved- towards root

3. What is the tooth number of this tooth from FDI?

(Both right and left)

Ans: 11 and 21
OSPE - 3
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans:

2. What are the anatomical landmarks from this

aspect
Ans :
OSPE - 3
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans: Permanent Maxillary central Incisor

2. What are the anatomical landmarks from this

aspect
Ans : Shows concavities and convexities
• Lingual fossa is seen
• Convexity - cingulum on cervical 3rd of crown
• Lingual fossa is bounded by cingulum
superiorly, mesial and distal marginal ridges
laterally and by the incisal ridge inferiorly
• Mesial and distal sides of root converges
lingually
• Cervical line- towards root

1. Identify the tooth?
Ans:

2. What are the list anatomical landmarks from this

aspect
Ans :
OSPE - 4
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans: Permanent Maxillary central Incisor

2. What are the list anatomical landmarks from this

aspect
Ans :
 Crown appears triangular with base at cervical
region and apex at incisal edge
 Labial outline is convex with crest of curvature
at cervical 3rd
 Lingual outline is convex in cervical 3rd, concave
in middle 3rd and convex at incisal ridge
 Cervical line curved towards incisal tip and is
more convex on mesial sid
OSPE - 5
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans:

2. From this aspect what are the convexities

and concavities seen
• Ans
OSPE - 5
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans: Permanent Maxillary central Incisor

2. From this aspect what are the convexities

and concavities seen
• Ans : Convexities: cingulum located at the
cervical third of the tooth
• Either side of the lingual aspect is
bordered by linear elevations called
marginal ridges, called mesial marginal
and distal marginal ridge
Incisally the lingo-incisal ridge
Concavities: The major portion is occupied by
a concavity called lingual fossa.

landmarks from this aspect
OSPE - 7
1. Identify the tooth?
Ans: Permanent Maxillary central Incisor

2 . What are the list anatomical landmarks

from this aspect
• SHAPE : triangular from this aspect with
the base on the labial surface and the
apex towards the cingulum.
• Incisal edge is straight and is located at
the center
• Dimensions:
The mesio-distal dimension is greater than
the labio-lingual dimension.

1. Identify the tooth (yellow
colored) ?
Ans:

2 . What are the Class traits of this

tooth ?
OSPE - 8
1. Identify the tooth (yellow colored) ?
Ans: Permanent Maxillary Lateral Incisor

2 . What are the Class traits of this tooth ?

Closely resembles central incisor but smaller
in dimension and support them in
function
Smaller crown, more convex with smooth
surface
These teeth are less symmetrical, and may
often show variations in the form and
size (e.g. Peg shaped laterals which are
conical in shape
OSPE - 9
1. Identify both the teeth
Ans:

2 . Write any 4 differences

between these 2 teeth?
OSPE - 9
1. Identify the teeth
Ans: Permanent Maxillary
Central and Lateral Incisor

2 . Write any 4 differences

between these teeth?
Ans- Next slide
MAX CENTRAL/ LATERAL DIFFERENCES
Central Incisor Lateral Incisor
Larger in all dimensions Smaller in all dimensions than central incisor

Labial is smooth and relatively flatter except Labial surface is smooth but is more convex
the cervical 1/3rd
Contact areas are more incisally placed Contact areas are more cervically placed
with mesial contact area at Incisal third with mesial contact area at junction between
close to incisal angle and distal contact area incisal and middle third and distal contact
at the junction between incisal and middle area at the middle of middle 1/3rd
third

Incisal edge is straight Incisal edge is rounded or curved

Mesio-incisal angle is sharp and disto- Both the incisal angles are rounded: Disto-
incisal angle is rounded incisal angle is more rounded than mesio-
incisal angle
Shallow lingual fossa More deep lingual fossa with developmental
groove
Cingulum is slightly off to distal, making Cingulum is narrower than that of central
mesial marginal ridge longer incisor and is at the center and marginal
ridges are of equal length

1. Identify the teeth
Ans:

2 . Write any 3 differences from

this between these teeth?
OSPE - 10
1. Identify the teeth
Ans: Permanent Maxillary Central and Lateral
Incisor (Incisal aspect)

2 . Write any 3 differences from this aspect

between these teeth?
Incisal aspect generally similar except for its
smaller size in maxillary Lateral incisor.
Labial and lingual out lines are more
rounded or convex giving ovoid or
round shape to the incisal. In contrast
to the triangular shape of the central
incisor.
The cingulum is more prominent and is
centered in a mesio-distal direction in
