OBJECTIVES of the Activities

Know and understand the other two tracks which

will be offered in Senior High School and the career
paths they may lead to
INTRODUCTION: (Session Activity)

In the last session, we talked about two

important things. First, we talked about what
we need to know about Senior High School.
Second, we discussed two out of the four SHS
tracks—the Academic Track and Technical-
Vocational and Livelihood Track.
p

To help you recall, we will be playing a game

called ‘K to 12 Ready Ka Na Ba?’ which you will
answer with ‘K to 12 ready na!’ So class, K to
12 ready ka na ba?
INTRODUCTION: (Session Activity)
I will be needing two volunteers to come here in front and
face the class while I stand behind them and act as the game
show host.
p
I will ask both of them a question regarding our discussions
last session. The first volunteer to answer correctly will be the
winner for the round. However, this game is not that simple.
Before you are allowed to say your answer, you have to do
three jumping jacks and do a round about in the assigned post.
p
The first person to complete this action will be the one to
answer my question  first. He or she is given only five (5)
seconds to say his or her answer.
INTRODUCTION: (Session Activity)
When he or she has said his or her answer, I will ask the
class ‘K to 12 ready na ba siya?’ If I give the ‘thumbs up’
gesture, it means his or her answer is correct; the class will say
‘K to 12 ready na siya!’
p

But if I give the ‘thumbs down’ gesture, it means that his or

her answer is incorrect; the class will slowly shake their heads
left and right.
p

If the first answer given is incorrect, the other volunteer

will be given a chance to steal for five (5) seconds. When his or
her answer is correct, the class will say ‘K to 12 ready na siya!’
pp

But when his or her answer is wrong, the class will shake
their heads left and right.
INTRODUCTION: (Session Activity)
There will be ten (10) rounds with only one (1) question
each. Every round will have a different pair of volunteers. The
class will be the judge of who finishes the action first and
whose answer is correct.

When both volunteers’ answers are wrong, it is up to the

class to provide the correct answer. But before you tell me your
answer, I will ask you ‘K to 12 ready na ba kayo?’ Respond by
telling me your answer. If you are correct, I will say ‘K to 12
ready na kayo!
DISCUSSIONS
K to 12 ready na nga kayo!

So today, we are going to discuss the last two tracks in our

Senior High School Program. These are the Arts and Design Track
and Sports Track. The flow of our discussion will be the same with
how we discussed the previous tracks. It will be better if you will
take note of important details and write them in your notebook.
What is This Track All About?
As the name suggests, the Arts and Design Track concerns both creative
and performative industries. It fits students whose interests revolve around the
fields of music, theatre, visual arts, media arts, and dance. This track also
includes honing various skills such as song composing, stage performing,
illustrating, sculpting, photography, or choreography. In general, it covers both
traditional arts and modern forms of graphics and design.
This track aims to help students hone their skills. Besides hands-on
training, it also targets to expand learners’ knowledge on the use of various arts
and design materials, media, and forms. It hopes to develop students’ visual
curiosity and creativity and prepare them for a variety of jobs that require such
skills.
In taking this route, learners will expose themselves to various forms of
media, including interior design, graphic design, painting, photography, film,
and painting. Likewise, they will learn fashion design, industrial design, and
animation.
What are the subjects in this track?
The Arts and Design Track intends to provide students with knowledge of
the different arts and design forms, materials, media, and production in the
creative industries. This track will also expose you to various influential artists
and works across time and around the globe.
When it comes to visual arts, it is other than painting. There is
printmaking, architecture, interior designing, photography, and film
production. You will be equipped with different media arts skills like
animation, web design, or interactive mobile applications. Grab on that mouse
and learn how to use computer-aided design software like the AutoCAD,
Google Sketchup, Maya, Photoshop, 3ds MAX and VRAY.
The Arts and Design Track will offer you subjects on the principles of
theater, music, and dance. But you will not stop there too! You will also get to
understand the concepts and practical application of the skills in performing
arts in both local and global setting.
What can I do after SHS?

Music is not just for singers. Enhancing your skills in writing under the
Arts and Design Track can be your stepping stone in becoming a great song

the right skills and basic knowledge you can use as you explore the fantastic
and fun world of media and visual arts. This can land you a job in the fields of
multimedia production, advertising, corporate communications, graphic
designing, filmmaking, photography, and desktop publishing.

The Sports Track aims to give you understanding of the basic

principles and techniques in relation to physical education and
recreation.

It will also offer you and discuss various factors that affect social,
psychological, and cognitive development in sports leadership and
management.

Professions that are related in this track are fitness trainers, game
officials, tournament manager, recreation attendant, masseur, or gym
instructor.
What are the subjects in this track?
This is not all about dance and just playing sports. Physical
Education includes an understanding of human movements through
anatomy and physiology.

Part of the curriculum in the Sports Track is Safety and First Aid.
This is to ensure that you have the life skills and competencies in safety,
injury prevention and management in various sports and exercise
settings for prompt and proper response during emergencies.

Part of the career track in here is for you to learn the right ways in
administering tests and programs for physical fitness and performance
enhancement.

Sport Science

Under the Sports Track, you will gain the skills and knowledge
from human physiology to coaching techniques. Become a gym
instructor or a game official and have fun while working. This is track is
going to be literally work and play.

Physical Therapy

This is a great start for those who will take a degree in physical
therapy. You have the chance to touch other people’s lives by helping
them recover from their injuries and illnesses.
CONCLUSION

Processing
Before we end our Module 2, let us test how familiar we are with
the different tracks. The activity is entitled, ‘Group Charades!’ The
mechanics of the game is very simple. The class will be divided into
five (5) groups. Each group will receive four (5) strips of paper
containing different activities related to a specific track.

One member  from the group will have to act out the activities
one by one and the rest will guess what activity is being acted out
and to which track it is under. Each group is given one minute to
prepare and two minutes to act out all the activities indicated on the
strips of paper. The group with the most number of guessed items
will be the winner for the activity. If they can finish guessing all the
strips before the time is up, the group with the least number of
minutes incurs, wins.
CLOSING
Accomplish the distributed worksheets.
