For the past 3 days, Gary has been late. This morning while he was driving work, his car got a flat tire.
There fore Gary will be late today.

Argument = Conclusion + Premise

Premise: Flat tire this morning

Conclusion: Gary will be late today

Conclusion: Gary will be late today

Premise: Flat tire this morning

Argument: Sequence of two or more phrases, clauses, sentences or statements – one of which is
conclusion follows the premise

Premises are always true even if they are unrealistic

Ex: All cars are red. I have a car. What color is my car? Here the answer is the conclusion.
So, sometimes the argument can be partial where we have to find out the conclusion from the option or
add the premise to validate the conclusion.

Why Test:
A conclusion gets support, premise provides it.

I like to watch TV. My TV just broke down. Therefore I should get a new TV.

What’s the conclusion and premise here?

So the premises answer the question “WHY”.

Inductive Argument: Conclusion isn’t guaranteed

New students usually attend classes. A and B are new

students

Deductive Argument: Conclusion is guaranteed

All students are mortal. Capstone coaching has a lot of

students.
